The privacy policy of the Diretix service, operated by Partatch: what information we collect, how we use it and what your rights are.

Information we collect

We collect account details (name and email address), the travel preferences you give us, and basic usage data needed to run and improve the service.

If you use the trip gallery, we also store the photos and videos you choose to upload.

When you sign up, we also store the approximate city and country you signed up from, based on your IP address. For older accounts, the location comes from an IP address we had already stored, for example with your consent to receive emails from us. The location is worked out on our own servers, without sending the address to anyone else, and is used only for internal statistics about where our users come from.

How we use information

We use the information to produce your trip routes, personalize recommendations and provide support. We do not sell personal information to third parties.

We share information with external services only when a product feature needs it, such as sign-in, maps, payments or searching for a rental car.

The gallery that holds the photos and videos you upload is open only to you and the trip members you invite. The files are stored encrypted on AWS, at unique addresses that cannot be guessed or found by searching, and anyone who is sent a direct link to a file can open it. We use them for nothing except producing your trip presentation, which reaches only you and anyone you send its link to.

Processing with artificial intelligence

To produce a route, some of your input is processed by artificial intelligence providers. We work to minimize the identifying information sent for processing, and to keep it only for as long as needed.

We also use AI providers to check and improve the service, for example to sort the feedback you send us and to test changes to how trips are built against earlier conversations. This information is sent without your name, email address or account details.

Cookies, local storage and measurement tools

We separate cookies and browser local storage into two kinds. Essential cookies run the service: they keep you signed in, protect against request forgery and remember your cookie choice itself. These are always on, and the site will not work without them. Measurement and advertising cookies are not essential, so they only start working after you accept them in the banner shown on your first visit. Until you accept, and if you choose “No, thanks”, nothing is stored on your device for measurement or advertising, and no information that identifies you is sent. The DiscoverCars search box described below is an exception: your banner choice does not apply to it, and it only loads if you open it.

The two tools implement this differently, and we want you to know the difference. The Meta pixel does not load at all until you accept. The Google tag, by contrast, loads on every page but starts in a restricted mode (“Consent Mode”). In that mode it creates no cookies, stores no identifier and sends no information that identifies you; only a technical request goes to Google’s servers, containing your IP address, the address of the page you are on and your browser type. Google needs this request to verify that the tag is installed on the site. Only after you accept does the tag switch to full mode and begin measuring.

The service uses cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in, remember your preferences and run product features. We also use Google Analytics to understand general usage patterns and improve the service; the data it collects is statistical, and we do not use it to identify you personally.

The site also includes the Meta Pixel from Meta Platforms, which measures how well our advertising campaigns work: it reports page views and milestones such as signing up, creating a route and making a purchase. We do not pass your name, email address, phone number or payment details through the pixel.

The site also runs the Google Ads conversion tag, which measures how well our advertising campaigns work and reports milestones such as signing up, creating a route and making a purchase. When Enhanced Conversions is on, performing such an action sends Google a one-way hashed version of your email address. The address is hashed in your browser before it is sent, so Google never receives it as readable text. We do not pass your name, phone number or payment details to Google.

This hashed value is used to attribute the conversion to an ad, to make measurement more accurate, and to build audience lists at Google (the Customer Match feature): Google compares it with the user accounts it already holds, so that we can show ads to audiences with similar characteristics, or avoid showing ads to people who are already our customers. This use is subject to Google’s policies on advertiser-owned customer data, and we do not sell the value or pass it to any other third party for advertising.

You can limit or turn off ad personalization at any time in Google’s ad settings at adssettings.google.com, and you can email us at [email protected] to ask us to stop sharing the value for you.

You can change your choice at any time through the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of the page. Withdrawing consent stops measurement immediately and deletes the cookies that were created: the Meta pixel stops loading, and the Google tag returns to the restricted mode described above. You can also limit or delete cookies in your browser settings; blocking essential cookies may stop your account and sign-in from working properly.

On the trip page you can open a DiscoverCars search box for renting a car. The box loads from the DiscoverCars website only after you click the button that opens it, and your cookie banner choice does not apply to it. When the box loads, DiscoverCars receives what any embedded site receives: your IP address, details about your browser and the address of the Diretix site. It also receives details we fill in from your trip: the pick-up and drop-off dates and times, the pick-up area when it is known, a trip ID number with no name or contact details, and Diretix’s partner code. Inside the box, DiscoverCars loads its own measurement and advertising tools, including Google tools, and these may store cookies and other information in your browser. What happens inside the box and on the DiscoverCars website is governed by DiscoverCars’ privacy policy.

Some links on the site are affiliate links, such as the car rental links to DiscoverCars and its search box, and the ticket and tour links to GetYourGuide. These links include Diretix’s partner code, and if you book through them we may earn a commission. The DiscoverCars links also carry a trip ID number, and the GetYourGuide links carry an ID number for the place in the trip, so that we know which trip a commissioned booking came from.

When you book a car on the DiscoverCars website through a Diretix link or search box, DiscoverCars sends us a notice about the booking. We keep the following details from it and show them in your trip: the booking number, the rental company and car type, the pick-up location, the drop-off date, the price, the booking status (pending, confirmed or canceled) and the trip ID number. We mark the rental in your trip as booked and stop suggesting a car for it. The notice also includes an IP address and a country, which we do not store with the trip.

Sub-processors and data retention

Information is stored and processed by well-known infrastructure and cloud providers, including Amazon Web Services (storage and infrastructure), Google (sign-in, maps and measurement), Paddle (payment processing and billing) and AI model providers, for producing routes. Each provider receives only the information its role requires.

Account information is kept for as long as the account is active. When the account is deleted, or on request, personal information is deleted or de-identified within a reasonable time, except where the law requires it to be kept longer.

Your rights

You can view, correct or delete your personal information at any time. For any privacy request, email us at [email protected] and we will handle it in accordance with the law.
